Alert for the Connecticut Fitness Alliance

There is a new opportunity to seek passage of the GYMS Act.  As you know, this bill stalled last year—it would provide grants and loans to health clubs to compensate facilities during last year’s closures.

Senator Ben Cardin and Senator Roger Wicker are introducing a small business assistance bill next week.  We need to get the GYMS Act included in it.

Please contact the offices of United States Senator Richard Blumenthal and Senator Chris Murphy and ask that they support the including of the GYMS Act in this bill.

If passed, the GYMS Act will create a $30 billion fund to provide grants to businesses affected by Covid-19 in the health and fitness industry. The fund would cap initial grant amounts at 45% of the facility’s 2019 revenue—or $20 million, whichever is less.

Thank you!
